Who We Are

Born from a Love of Travel

World Horizons was founded in 2012 by a group of friends who had spent their twenties travelling the world — and couldn't find a single trusted source that combined the depth of a guidebook with the freshness of digital media.

So they built one. Starting with a small blog covering Southeast Asia, the site quickly grew into a comprehensive travel platform trusted by millions of readers across the globe. Today, World Horizons covers over 150 destinations across every continent and employs a team of 40 writers, editors and travel specialists.

Our editorial independence is everything to us. We don't accept payments for editorial coverage, and our recommendations are based entirely on genuine experience and rigorous research. When we say a destination is extraordinary, we mean it.

Twelve Years of World Horizons

2012

World Horizons launches as a travel blog covering Southeast Asia, written by four friends on the road.

2015

The platform expands to cover 50 destinations across 5 continents. Monthly readership surpasses 100,000.

2018

World Horizons wins the prestigious Digital Travel Media Award and grows its team to 20 full-time writers.

2021

The rebuilt website launches with interactive planning tools, serving over 1 million readers monthly.

2026
